Wednesday, May 28, 2008ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- A rare brain cancer almost killed him, but now, more than seven years later, Steven Sterrett is singing the praises of the American Cancer Society and he hopes you're listening.
"There is Hope" is one of the songs Sterrett will sing at the opening ceremonies at the Relay for Life, a race benefiting the American Cancer Society.
Some $254,000 has been raised for the benefit in Anchorage, with about $3,500 of that from Sterrett himself.
"The treatment saved my life and without the funds from the American Cancer Society I wouldn't be here to sing to the Anchorage relay," Sterrett said.
The race starts at Wendler Middle School Friday and goes for 24 hours.
Proceeds from purchases of Sterret's CDs benefit the American Cancer Society and may be purchased at his website.
